So they tell me I should blog…

I discovered early on not to accept what they say.
They being the kids who explained on the first day of first grade that this Italian kid wasn’t allowed to play in the schoolyard, because I wasn’t Irish, and also because I was a “shrimp.” Hmm. We’ll just have to see about that, I thought.
Fast forward more than a few years. Nothing much has changed, actually. Though I live in sunny Phoenix, Arizona now, I’m still Italian, still a shrimp, and still full of the passion they unknowingly ignited on that crisp, fall day in Brooklyn, New York. I won’t tell you how many years ago that was. A girl has to keep some secrets. But I will tell you that today my passion is directed to my work in book design, to my love of beautiful typography, and, as the owner of 1106 Design and with the help of the like-minded team of people here, to helping others understand why both of those things matter.
I love helping people who want to publish books, whether it’s one book for a beginning publisher or a dozen books for a large publishing company. This blog is my very own schoolyard where they have no say, and I can have all the fun I want.
What do you want to know? What topics should we explore together? How can we help you along your publishing journey? Everyone here at 1106 Design wants to help. Post your comment here or email us at office@1106design.com

Welcome to the blogosphere! Shrimp!
Welcome to the wonderful world of blogs. Didn’t know you were from Brooklyn. I’m living there now, in the Cobble Hill section. Which part were you in?
