Author Story: Christopher S. Ruhland

Written by a Champagne-lover for Champagne-lovers, Press for Champagne: A Guide To Enjoying The World’s Greatest Sparkling Wine by Christopher S. Ruhland is a drinker’s guide designed to heighten your understanding and appreciation of Champagne. Although Ruhland is also the author of a successful traditionally published book, he decided to self-publish Press for Champagne because he wanted the freedom to write the guide he felt other wine drinkers would find informative and fun, not one that fits within a specific formula. Ruhland’s main goal for his book was to help people maximize their enjoyment of Champagne by tearing down the barriers that many wine drinkers face in learning about the subject.

How 1106 Design Helped

Rather than having to go out and sift through designers, editors, and other experts, Ruhland turned to the experienced team at 1106 Design. 1106 Design assisted with cover and interior design, editing, and proofreading, and we also assisted with the technical aspects of publication. In the author’s own words, “I have to say that 1106 Design removed what would have been a lot of challenges through their work. I simply could not have produced a book that looks this beautiful and professional without their work.” That’s not to say that he lost creative control of his work. Quite the opposite. All the decisions rested with him, but he had the advantage of collaborating with experts who had his best interest in mind and could guide him through the process.

Other Reflections on the Process

If you’re detail-oriented and care about quality, it’s important to work with others who share those traits and care about your concerns. The last thing any author should want is to spend their time, effort, and money on a product only for it to wind up falling short of their expectations.  This is why Ruhland was so happy to have found 1106 Design. If you want to ensure your work reaches traditional publishing standards, feel free to contact us today. We truly care about empowering and enabling authors to achieve their goals and we’d love to discuss how we can help you, too.
